Cryptic Mediators at the Bacterial-Fungal Interface: Mushroom Soft Rot Diseases as Infection Model
Public web page: Not specified
Organisms: Streptomyces rapamycinicus, Candida albicans, Aspergillus nidulans, Aspergillus fumigatus, Janthinobacterium agaricidamnosum, Mycetocola lacteus, Mycetocola tolaasinivorans, Pseudomonas tolaasii, Burkholderia sp. strain B4, Burkholderia sp. strain B7, Burkholderia sp. strain B8, Mycetohabitans endofungorum, Mycetohabitans rhizoxinica, Burkholderia gladioli
Pseudomonas tolaasii is the causative effect of bacterial brown blotch disease in the common button mushroom Agaricus bisporus. Some strains of the genus Mycetocola were identified that can suppress the disease symptoms when inoculated to the mushroom cap prior to infection with P. tolaasii. We investigate the molecular basis of the disease suppressive effect of different Mycetocola species.
